Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, a Spaniard, expressed his admiration after Rafael Nadal visited the club’s training facilities.
Guardiola hailed the encounter as a pleasure, noting that they addressed the difficulty of maintaining continuity in sports across time.
An inspiring visit by Nadal to Manchester
Rafael Nadal paid a visit to Manchester City’s facilities last Wednesday before witnessing Liverpool’s Champions League match against Real Madrid at Anfield. When asked if he would use Nadal as an example to motivate his players, Guardiola responded that it would be “beautiful” and “easy to do.”
“It was a pleasure seeing him. He is an amazing athlete. We chatted about sports and how difficult it is to be at the top for so many years. Rafa enjoys sports and wants to keep going, but his body couldn’t take it longer. “The same thing happens in football,” Guardiola said during a press conference on Friday. Nadal’s visit coincided with his first public appearance since declaring his retirement at the Davis Cup in Málaga, when Team Spain was knocked out in the quarterfinals by the Netherlands.
