JUST IN: Bucs Sign another 2 WRs, 2 Punters, to replace…

NFL

On Wednesday, the Bucs placed injured wide receiver Chris Godwin on injured reserve and signed two wide receivers and two punters. With 43 seconds remaining in Monday Night Football’s 41-31 loss to the Ravens, Godwin sustained a dislocated ankle. Godwin is out for the year due to surgery that was necessary for his injury.

Ryan Miller, who was signed from the practice squad, took Godwin’s position on the active roster for Tampa Bay. Miller had his first NFL grab for 39 yards in the Bucs’ 51-27 victory over New Orleans after being promoted from the practice squad.
Trenton Gill, a punter on the practice squad, was also added to the active roster by the Bucs, as anticipated. In order to replace Jake Camarda, the team’s 2022 fourth-round selection, Gill had been promoted three times from the practice squad. After not playing as the punter for Monday night’s game against Baltimore, Camarda was cut by the team on Tuesday.

Wide receiver Mike Evans would have missed four weeks if he had been placed on the short-term injured reserve, but the team has decided against it. Nevertheless, the Bucs are optimistic that he will be able to play against the Giants in New York in Week 11 following the bye.
Kameron Johnson, a wide receiver for Tampa Bay, is also on injured reserve and could be ready to play again in three weeks. Last week, Johnson was admitted to the intensive care unit due to an ankle sprain. Rakim Jarrett, another player on the Bucs’ injured reserve, should be able to rejoin the active roster either this week against the Falcons or the following week against the Chiefs.
Bucs Add Punter and Wide Receiver to Practice Squad
Former Chiefs WR Byron Pringle was among the wide receivers who participated in the team’s Wednesday wide receiver tryouts, as reported by Pewter Report on Tuesday. Instead, Tampa Bay added Dennis Houston to the practice squad and signed another receiver.
The 198-pound, 6-foot-1 Houston joined the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent in 2022 and has since played for the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants. He has made two appearances in his career, both with the Cowboys in 2022, and has two receptions for 16 yards. Prior to moving to Fullerton College (2018) and Western Illinois (2019–21), Houston started his collegiate career at Houston Baptist (2017). His final two seasons at Western Illinois saw him named to the first team of the Missouri Valley Football Conference, and as a senior in 2021, he was named to the Associated Press third-team All-America. Houston caught 169 passes for 2,031 yards, 11 receiving touchdowns, and two rushing scores in 25 games at Western Illinois. Dennis will represent the Bucs wearing number 89.

Jack Browing joined the Bucs’ practice squad on Wednesday after they added another punter. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound Browning spent time with the Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens during the most recent offseason after joining the league as an undrafted free agent in 2024. Before playing for San Diego State for three seasons (2021-23), he started his collegiate career at Grossmont College (2019–20). He was named the 2022 Mountain West Special Teams Player of the Year, received two All-Mountain West selections, and handled both punting and kicking duties in his final two seasons.
