Philadelphia surely will be looking to add more to the edge this offseason

The 2024 National Football League regular season is quickly approaching its conclusion.

The Philadelphia Eagles have just five games remaining in the regular season. Philadelphia is 10-2 after defeating the Baltimore Ravens, and everything is looking good for the franchise right now.

While this is true, it seems like the regular season has flown by. Soon, the playoffs will begin, followed by free agency and the draft. Despite the fact that the National Football League only has 18 weeks of regular season play, it operates all year.

Philadelphia is fantastic right now, but like the rest of the league, it will need to start over this offseason in search of new players. Bleacher Report’s scouting staff predicts that the team will sign Washington Commanders linebacker Dante Fowler Jr. in free agency to bolster the pass rush.

“2025 Free Agency: EDGE Dante Fowler Jr., Washington Commanders,” Bleacher Report announced. “On a similar note, (Brandon Graham) is scheduled to retire at the conclusion of the year, and Josh Sweat is an upcoming free agent. While Nolan Smith could take over as starter in the future, the defense could benefit from some pass-rush aid.

“That’s where Fowler comes in, as he’s had a solid season with 8.5 sacks entering the weekend. While the 30-year-old, who turns 31 in August, has never been a strong run defender, he can get after the quarterback, having recorded over 50 career sacks. Furthermore, it would be wonderful to take a player from one of Philadelphia’s major rivals and presumably the club’s biggest opponent in the division going forward.”

Fowler would be an excellent addition, but it is too early to make such a bold prediction. In 13 games with Washington this season, he has 8.5 sacks. If he were currently on the Eagles, he would lead the team. He’s only signed for $3.25 million for season, so he might not even be that expensive.

It’s exciting to think about free agency, but the Eagles should be focused on a much bigger prize right now because they are equipped to compete.
